We finished up our ladies’ Bible study on Beth Moore’s David: Seeking a Heart Like His. If you’ve never done a Beth Moore study, I would highly recommend it. She has a wonderful, engaging way of digging into God’s Word. Her video segments are energetic, heart-felt and relatable. You could just watch the videos and you would surely be blessed. You could just do the study book. Fair warning: it is not for the faint of heart, as it requires a bit of a time commitment each day. Let me tell you, it’s worth it. She encourages you to apply the truths of His Word in your own life, and to examine yourself in a thoughtful manner. You’d have to try pretty hard to not hear God speak to you through these studies.
I related here (also here and here) how so much of my time in the last year or two has intertwined in a way that was not purposefully orchestrated by me…but it was by Him. The Psalms, the life of David, prayer, building a deeper relationship with God…all have come alive for me. One of the most significant themes for me in this latest study is living for Him with abandon, praising Him with abandon, trusting Him with abandon, from the very depths of my being. I want to throw off the self-imposed inhibitions and feelings of self-consciousness. Like David, I want to be wholly focused on listening to His direction and surrendering myself to Him in a fresh way, to be a woman after God’s own heart.
To give Him my heart with full abandon.
