welcome!

Hey! I’m Janet and I’m so glad you stopped by! Grab yourself a cuppa and join me…I’m just an ordinary wife and momma serving an extraordinary God and this is my story of finding joy in the everyday.

Together with the Love of my Life and the youngest two of our six children, we made the move to the east coast of Canada to plant a church in a small seaside town. The journey has been full of twists and turns, but what a perfect foil for our awesome God to do His thing!

Do you feel like you’re jumping into a book at page 243? To catch you up on the characters of this story, here’s a quick sketch:

There’s me, but we’ve already met…. I’ve been married to the Love of my Life for thirty [edit: now thirty-one two] wonderful years. In the course of those three decades, our family has grown exponentially! We have two children still living at home (once called our littles, but for the sake of peace, I will no longer refer to them as such, as they are now a teen and almost teen {edit: two teens!), four grown-up children, three children-in-love, and two [edit: 4! 5!! 6!!!] sweet grandlittles.

The year I became a Mrs. I also became a princess, a daughter of the King of Kings. Grafted into this family tree, I dedicated myself to serving my heavenly Father in whatever manner He would call me. This has primarily been in the form of (hopefully) supportive helpmeet to my Love and long-time homeschooling momma.  The course has taken a bit of a detour as my Love transitioned, along with us, into full-time ministry, most recently in a church planting pastor role.

God’s path for our life together has sometimes been smooth and well-marked. At other times, it seems more like a labyrinth of overgrown, thorny hedges that determines to keep us from visualizing–let alone reaching–our destination. Thankfully, those times of wrong turns and back-tracking, the scrapes and bruises as we veer into the hedges, and the long up-hill climbs, shape our character, make us more like His dear Son in a way that an open road never could. It’s along these paths that I discovered it is possible to find joy in the everyday. It is trickier to be sure, but God is always good and He has planted joy along the path in lovely bursts of colourful wildflowers, and in the sweet songs of His creation, if only I would open the eyes and ears of my heart.

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy;  At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. ~Psalm 16:11

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. ~Matthew 19:29
